Hands on top of each other

About Us

Our stand at ONS 2024 serves as a hub for dialogue, education, and inspiration on circular economy. We want to highlight the opportunities and solutions a circular economy can bring to businesses in all sectors.

RENAS

RENAS is Norway’s leading compliance company for electrical and electronic waste (e-waste) and batteries. Established in 1999, it manages producer responsibility for about 2,600 manufacturers and importers. RENAS has collected over a million tons of e-waste the last 25 years.

RENAS’s extensive network includes 18 treatment facilities and nationwide collection across Norway. This infrastructure ensures that e-waste is handled correctly, with a focus on removing hazardous substances and maximizing material recovery. RENAS also serves as a link between producers and recyclers, facilitating the development of effective recycling methods and ensuring that recovered materials are suitable for new manufacturing processes.

In addition to its core recycling operations, RENAS plays a vital role in the circular economy by driving initiatives that extend the lifespan of products and promote reuse. Through founding companies like Redoit and Circular Norway, and forming partnerships, RENAS supports sustainable practices and contributes to long-term resource management.

RENAS is a non-profit entity owned by the Norwegian Electrical Trade Association (EFO) and Elektro og Energi, a part of the Federation of Norwegian Industries.

Circular Norway

Circular Norway is a key driver in transforming Norwegian businesses and municipalities towards a circular economy. Through advisory services, practical tools, and international collaborations, the organization helps entities achieve climate and environmental goals. This includes the goals outlined in the Paris Agreement and circular economy requirements in the EU taxonomy and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

Circular Norway focuses on resource efficiency, emission reduction, and reuse of critical components for achieving the 1.5-degree target and net-zero emissions by 2050. Its services include circular analysis, e-learning, and strategy development. Circular Norway also operates Materialbanken Madaster, a platform promoting the reuse of construction materials.

Circular Norway has a strong partnership with RENAS. Together, they work on projects and initiatives supporting the circular economy, emphasizing the importance of proper waste management, recycling, and promoting sustainable business practices.

Through their joint effort, RENAS and Circular Norway aim to create a more sustainable future by closing the loop on resource use and waste.
